Ilyang Antimony, a company founded in 1987, began by manufacturingSb2O3 (antimony trioxide), which is an assistant flame retardant in plastic, rubber and textiles. The company established a new company to produce melamine molding compound (MMC), which is a material for tableware, in 1992 and changed its name to Ilyang Chemical. The company built a factory in Cheongju in 1995 to produce mediums or vehicles for various detergents that currently are manufactured by LG Household & Health Care. Since then, the company has steadily grown, and as a result, has become the nation’s leader in the industry.
